Abstract : Even if phagocytosis was described for the first time more than 100 years ago, this apparently simple mecanism has yet to be fully resolved. To understand the phagosome’s functions, I have first studied the interactions between this organelle and the causing agent of the leishmaniasis which possess means to evade phagocytosis. For the second part of my thesis, I applied high throughput proteomics and lipidomics methods to identify molecules composing the phagosome taking into account of spatial (membrane microdomain) and temporal (maturation) dimentions.
Citations : The jury gave a Citation of Excellence to the thesis. They added that the quality of the thesis is such that it could represent University of Montreal in best thesis competitions and the candidate should be considered for inclusion on the Dean's Honor List.
